Last Home Meet This Saturday — League Meet Info & End of Season Party

Subject:

Hi Piranhas Families,

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  This Saturday July 11,  we host the Green Mountain Gators at Anderson Pool. This is our last regular season meet and our last home meet.  Time really flies.  The process is the same as our meet with Golden — please log into Swimtopia to:

  • Register your swimmer and select up to 3 individual events
  • Sign up for a volunteer job — home meets need timers, heating, computers, concessions, and hospitality

Registration and job signups are open now.  Entries are due by Thursday after practice.

Our swimmers are in the water at 6:00 AM for warm-ups. While they're warming up, we're setting up — moving tables, chairs, and equipment from storage. Find someone in a Piranhas shirt and ask how you can help. (The 20x20 heating tent is back — just as fun to set up as last time.)

Teardown
At the end of the meet, please resist the urge to rush home and make a trip or two to return things to storage. With a dozen people it takes about 10 minutes — with just four, considerably longer!

Volunteer Roles

  • Heating — getting swimmers lined up in the right rows and columns
  • Computer — collecting results and printing them
  • Concessions — the best coffee in the league (Stylus and Crate), burritos, donuts, and snacks
  • Timing — same as away meets
  • Officials & Starter — if interested, please ask!

Job descriptions can be found under Swim Meet 101 [link].

League Meet — July 17–19
Looking ahead, the League Meet is coming up! Here are the details:

  • Friday, July 17 — 400 meter swim events at Green Mountain
  • Saturday–Sunday, July 18–19 — at Golden

Swimmers who qualify may enter up to 3 individual events. Register [HERE] — ( Ignore the fact it says placeholder.  We will may get a different template) on that page you can see which events your child has already qualified for and their best times in other events. To look up the actual qualifying time standards, visit [HERE].

Swimmers can also compete in relays without a qualifying time, provided the relay contains at least one swimmer who does qualify. Relays are a great way to support your teammates and represent the team — we encourage everyone to indicate they are willing to be in relays by marking attending - even if no individual events are selected!

As a team, Wheat Ridge is responsible for supplying:

  • Runners — collecting timing sheets from the timers.  ( fwiw - this is great assignment.  Other teams cover heating, concessions and parking.)
  • Timers — we are required to provide timers for one lane

Volunteer sign-ups for League Meet will be added soon — keep an eye out!

Save the Date — End of Season Party, Tuesday July 21st
Join us at the pavilions at Anderson Pool to celebrate a fantastic season! We'll send good luck to our Piranhas heading to State and enjoy some well-earned time together. More details to follow — mark your calendars!

As always, reach out with any questions!

Chomp Chomp! 🦈
