I’m Alex Tubis. I’m from Connecticut and grew up swimming competitively for over 10 years, and I’ve been coaching for about 10 years now. I’ve had the chance to learn from some really great coaches in both Connecticut and Colorado, and that’s had a big impact on how I coach today.
Freestyle has always been my favorite stroke, especially the 100 and 200 free. When I’m not at the pool, I’m usually either in the mountains or at the beach—I just like being outside and staying active.
I’m thrilled to be joining the Piranhas coaching staff this summer! I’m a proud Wheat Ridge Piranhas and Wheat Ridge High School alum, and I’ve been swimming since I first joined the team at just 3 years old. Over the years, I’ve fallen in love with the sport, and I’m beyond excited to help instill that same love for swimming in your kids.
I've had the privilege of watching this team grow and evolve, and now I’m honored to be a part of that journey as a coach. I’ve also worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor for the City of Wheat Ridge, where I’ve had the opportunity to teach swimmers of all ages. Joining the Piranhas in this new role feels like coming full circle, and I couldn’t be prouder.
Outside of the pool, I’m currently an intern with the Outdoor Lab Foundation, working with 6th graders in outdoor education. This fall, I’ll be heading to the University of Portland to study Public Health.
I swam from age 9-19 and swam division 1 for my first year of college. I grew up on the East Coast and moved to Colorado about a year ago. I have loved living in CO so far!! My best stroke was butterfly and I have a Shiloh shepherd named Mango!
Hi Parents! I’m so excited to be coaching this season! A little about me, I have been swimming for 9 years with North Jeffco and 12 years overall! I’ve been coaching the Apex CARA team for 3 seasons as well! I love challenging kids in the pool and making connections outside of it. I’m super excited to coach this season!
