WRP News June 15 - AK this weekend.

Hi Swim Families,

First, a huge thank you to everyone who helped make our first home meet such a success — we couldn't do it without you! All volunteer shifts were covered as well the numerous unnamed tasks that needed to be done.  Great teamwork. An extra special thanks to those around at the end putting the tent, chairs, tables and blocks away.

Another special shoutout to our donut volunteers, Kristen and Amanda — you guys rock!

This Weekend: Away Meet at Applewood Knolls Saturday June 20th ( Last away meet)

Please remember to sign up for this weekend's away meet at Applewood Knolls. As an away meet, volunteer duties are the same as the Golden and Genesee meets.  Basically, we need to bring timers and officials. Our warm-up will be at 6:30.  Signup by Thursday after practice.

Upcoming: AAC Pentathlon — Sunday, June 28th at ACC

When choosing events for the upcoming meets, please keep the AAC Pentathlon in mind if your swimmer might want to participate on June 28th. At the Pentathlon, swimmers compete in individual events only (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, and IM). The overall winner in each age/gender group is determined by the swimmer with the best combined times across all five events.

What is the Pentathlon?
The Pentathlon is a qualifying meet that offers great competition and challenges swimmers' endurance. Here's what you need to know:

  • Format: Each swimmer competes in 5 events — Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle, and IM. Without relays, the meet goes quickly.
  • Qualification: Of those 5 events, 4 times must be a "B" time or better. (B, League and State Times)
  • These events can qualify you for league or state.

If your swimmer is planning to attend the Pentathlon, keep this in mind when selecting their events for the upcoming meet so they have the chance to hit qualifying times.  Coaches can answer questions.
