Hi Piranhas Families,

We're kicking off the season this week — here's what you need to know:

First Practice — Friday, May 29 - Anderson - 7:30 AM

All groups practice together on Fridays, starting at 7:30. As a bonus, swimmers get donuts after practice, making it the most popular day of the week! If you're unsure which group your child will be swimming in, no worries — come on out and we'll get it sorted.  Come early if you have questions or want to talk with the coaches.

If you missed the event, t-shirts and caps will be available at practice. If you ordered a team suit, those should also be ready for pickup.

First Meet — Saturday at Golden's Splash Pool

We'll be competing alongside four teams: Golden, AAC, Genesee, and us. A four-team meet is a bit unusual, but several pools aren't available for meets this time of year, so it was necessary.  No need to panic! Aside from Golden, these are among the smaller teams in the FSA. Since it's the first meet of the season, participation is typically low across the board — most teams are in the same position with very few practices under their belts.

On the bright side, we only need 4 timers per shift. We have three 2-hour shifts scheduled; the final shift, if needed, will likely wrap up before the full two hours.

Everyone is welcome to attend, but it is not required. For new members with little or no practice time yet, the idea of a meet might feel intimidating — if so, no worries at all about sitting this one out. Returning swimmers, you know what to expect, and we encourage you to come out and swim!

Swimtopia — Sign Up for the Meet
Everyone registered for the summer season has an account in WRP Swimtopia. If this is your first time logging in, you'll need to reset your password: go to the site and enter your email address, then select Forgot Password.  Do not create a Swimtopia Account!

Returning families, everything should look the same as last year.

Once you're logged into the Wheat Ridge Piranhas site, navigate to Meets & Events. Select the Golden Swim Meet and you'll see sections to sign up for events and volunteer for jobs. Since this is an away meet, the only volunteer options are timer and officials. Please choose 3 events for your swimmer and save.

This process is actually easier than these instructions make it seem! In a normal week, meet preferences are due on Wednesday. This week is special being our first — if you have any questions, we'll be happy to help everyone at practice on Friday.

Officials
We do need officials for the meet, but with four teams participating there should be sufficient numbers overall. We'll use this as a great opportunity for newer officials to shadow or work in pairs with more experienced ones.
