WRP Spring Training and Summer Swim Team Info #1
Hello,
Great to finally be back in the pool! Welcome to our new swimmers, and welcome back to our returning Piranhas.
Here's a quick rundown of topics and questions we've received:
Practice Groups Age was used as a simple proxy for skill to split swimmers into two groups. To keep the groups balanced, we'd encourage any swimmers in the first group who found it easy — especially returning swimmers — to join the second group at 5:00 PM. On the other hand, if the second group felt a bit too challenging, please feel free to swim with the earlier group. We want everyone in an environment where they can thrive.
Extra Support for New Swimmers For brand-new swimmers who had difficulty making it the length of the pool or swimming in a group setting, we'll offer additional pool time from 3:30–4:00 PM to work with coaches in a smaller group.
Additional Lane To give everyone more room, we'll have access to an extra lane going forward.
Water Temperature Lap pools are cooler than recreation pools — ours is set at 82°F, about 5 degrees cooler than the other pool. It may feel chilly at first, but swimmers tend to appreciate the cooler water as they get moving!
Questions for the coaches? Catch them before or after practice. Obviously, during practices, they are fairly busy. Alternatively, you can send an email to [email protected].

Summer Season
- May 3rd — Summer season information meeting will be held in a community room of the Wheat Ridge Rec Center, so plan to add a few minutes to your night if you’re in the first group and head over after getting your swimmer out of the water. Meeting starts at 5pm. If you have an older swimmer, send them to the pool and head our way.
- Caps and t-shirts are included with summer registration.
- May 17th — There will be a tie-dye party after practice to decorate shirts. Shirts and caps will be available to those who register by May 8th. (Yes, this is a ploy to get people to register early!
)
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions. Also, our website has lots of useful information.
Thanks!
